VyOS 1.5.1 and 1.4.5 LTS deliver critical security fixes, routing and high-availability enhancements, VPP improvements, and essential maintenance updates.

POWAY, Calif., Sep. 7, 2026 – VyOS Networks today announced the availability of VyOS 1.5.1 LTS and VyOS 1.4.5 LTS, delivering critical security fixes, stability improvements, and expanded capabilities for organizations operating networks across bare metal, cloud, and edge environments.

Both releases address thirteen security vulnerabilities, including twelve in accel-ppp, which powers PPPoE, IPoE, L2TP, and PPTP services, as well as a remote code execution vulnerability in the update-check mechanism. Organizations running these services should upgrade promptly.

VyOS 1.5.1 LTS also introduces new capabilities across routing, high availability, VPN, and system services, helping teams maintain consistent and reliable operations as their infrastructure scales.

Key highlights in VyOS 1.5.1 LTS include:

  • BGP enhancements, including ASN notation formats, update-delay, establish-wait, and BFD strict mode.
  • High-availability improvements, with SNMP traps and configurable health-check timeouts for VRRP.
  • Expanded operational visibility, including direct comparison of configuration differences with the configuration synchronization peer.
  • NTP hardware timestamp offload and local-stratum support.
  • VPP improvements, including fixes for VLAN sub-interface ACLs, interface removal, core allocation, CPU isolation, and XCP-ng deployments.
  • FRR 10.5, alongside a broad range of bug fixes and platform improvements.

VyOS 1.4.5 LTS includes the shared security fixes and additionally resolves a vulnerability in the NHRP subsystem that affects VyOS 1.4.x deployments. VyOS 1.4.x is now in maintenance mode and will continue to receive significant bug and security fixes, but will no longer receive feature backports.

“VyOS 1.5.1 and 1.4.5 LTS give infrastructure teams a clearer path to secure and maintain their production networks,” said Santiago Blanquet, Chief Revenue Officer at VyOS Networks. "Alongside important security fixes, 1.5.1 delivers practical improvements across routing, high availability, and operational visibility that help teams run with greater confidence."
