VyOS 1.4.0-epa3 release

The VyOS 1.4.0-epa3 (Early Production Access) release is now available to subscribers. It includes a fix for CVE-2024-2961 — the recently discovered buffer overflow vulnerability in GNU libc.

This is the final EPA of 1.4.0/Sagitta release, which includes all supported flavors (hardware and virtual). It also includes a few configuration syntax changes (all automatically migrated) that were required to make old configs work or to unblock improvement paths, such as implementing the DHCP server active/active high availability mode in addition to the old active/passive failover mechanism.

Please let us know if you notice any anomalies! We expect the 1.4.0 GA release in two weeks if no significant issues are detected.

VyOS 1.4.0-epa2 image is now available to customers and contributors (and everyone can build it from the sagitta branch of vyos-build, of course)! If you are new to VyOS, the "EPA" part means "early production access" — the final stage when the release is already used in production by a subset of users and on our proper infrastructure. This is the second release on the path to the final stabilization of the 1.4.0/Sagitta branch. It mainly features bug fixes but contains minor features

We are happy to announce that the VyOS 1.4.0-epa1 image is now available to customers and contributors (and everyone can build it from the sagitta branch of vyos-build, of course)! If you are new to VyOS, the "EPA" part means "early production access" — that's the final stage when the release is already used in production by a subset of users and on our proper infrastructure. We declare it as a new Long Term Support release. This release has been in development since early 2022 and offers a large number of new features, plus some redesigns and removals.

VyOS 1.3.0-epa3 release is available now. The generic ISO image is available publicly, while subscribers can access additional flavors through the support portal. This release fixes a number of bugs found in earlier versions. If no serious bugs are found, it will also become the last "early production access" release and the next image will be the first official 1.3.0 LTS release.

VyOS 1.3.0-epa2 release is available now. The generic ISO image is available publicly, while subscribers can access additional flavors through the support portal. This is mainly a bugfix release that corrects a number of issues found in the earlier 1.3.0-epa1 release. However, in addition to bug fixes, it includes a few features and updates, including DNS forwarding support for reverse zones and Linux kernel 5.4.154. It also will not be the last EPA (early production access) release—there are a few work-in-progress bug fixes now, so stay tuned for updates.

VyOS 1.3.0-epa1 images are now available for download. The “epa” suffix stands for “early production access”—the finish line of the new LTS release stabilization. The generic ISO is available publicly, while all other flavors are now reserved for subscribers—they will be available in the support portal within a couple of days. We recommend trying this release on lab VMs and upgrading non-critical production routers first since this release makes a log of big changes and some corner case issues may still exist.

VyOS 1.2.7-epa1

First, VyOS 1.2.7-epa1 is now available to subscribers, and everyone can build an equivalent image from our repositories. It's a rather big release, with multiple bug fixes and some backports from the 1.3/equuleus branch. We don’t expect any major issues with it, but we encourage everyone to test it on non-critical routers first. If no issues are found within a week or so, we will call if a 1.2.7 release.
