Hello Community!

You may remember that we were to set up a non-profit VyOS Foundation and that we started that process already back then. The progress wasn't very fast, but now pieces of that puzzle are finally falling in place.

A few companies already confirmed their intention to join the foundation, including Arsys, Flow Swiss, Stratus Networks, and ZTelco, and we are talking to more prospective members.

This is the last article from the series about VyOS future and it's about project governance.

I planned to publish it after 1.3 release but we still fixing a few “unpleasant” bugs that came to our attention during the rollout of 1.3 so I publishing it today

Even if you only use VyOS and don’t participate in its development and community activities, it’s a good idea to be aware of the current governance processes and their future since they have a big impact on the project. It’s even more important to know about them if you want to participate — and we invite everyone to participate!

VyOS Foundation Announcement

As you may already know, the VyOS project was started as a response to the cancellation of Vyatta Core, an open-source version of Vyatta that we used and loved. We have succeeded in this and seven years later we have a truly open-source network OS that people rely on. VyOS team is grateful to our customers and contributors who work together with us, and of course to all maintainers of open source software that VyOS is built upon.
